Kaun Banegi Shikharwati
Kaun Banegi Shikharwati is a unique take on a dysfunctional family coming together.
The father, Mrityunjay Singh Shikharwat a.k.a KING is an erstwhile Raja, who lives alone in the large Shikharwati palace with his trusted Wazir and Friend, Mishraji. An eccentric man, King may look old, but he is a child at heart, a stubborn one at that. His idiosyncrasies include shooting watermelons, wearing bright track suits with royal footwear, purchasing curtain fabric in bulk to have night-suits stitched out of, and - the oddest of them all - assuming he is still “King” in 2021, when there are less than 200 villagers in his little ‘kingdom’ who are also threatening to leave for lack of employment. ‘Nalayak’, the villagers call him. And he may well be so - he has evaded 32 crores of tax. But not for long. The tax officials are on to the stubborn child.
King’s one and only one wish in life is to bring his 4 estranged daughters - the ‘princesses’ of Shikharwati - together.
When the Rani died 20 years back, King had tried to toughen up his daughters by teaching them to play what he called ‘Royal Games’. They grew to hate each other and detest their father. 6 years ago, the princesses left him (and each other), vowing never to return. And they had kept their promise.
Now, faced with a looming tax problem, Shikharwati is in danger. And Mishraji needs the heiresses to return home and drive some sense into King’s childish brain. But they are their father’s daughters after all. Each one stiffer and more stubborn than the other. Mishraji must hatch a plan. He needs a con.
And so he announces the outlandish scheme - ‘KAUN BANEGI SHIKHARWATI’ . Presented with the carrot of becoming the successor to the throne, the sisters find themselves once again pitted against each other in a series of comical competitions.
Against the backdrop of these Royal Games, unfolds the heart-warming tale of 4 estranged sisters re-uniting, of pained daughters finally forgiving a lonely father, of a broken-and-crazy but loving-and-loveable family coming back together.
